Not only are there different standards of modesty for men and women, the society has not yet accustomed itself to the idea of a man and woman falling in love on their own merits, of their own accord. It is reluctant to grant lovers acceptance for exercising their right to choice. In such situation, when a girl falls in love, if she dares at all, she takes the biggest gamble the result of which, and her worth in the eyes of society depends largely on the man she ventures out for.
It's a very big responsibility for the poor schmuck who could breathe a sigh of relief more often in an open-minded society. It's a potentially hostile condition for the poor girl who would not be under the constant threat of character assassination in a more loving place.

I don't agree with that.
