This scene in the show 'The firefly lane' has my heart, for its close depiction of reality.
Tully is telling Pat's girlfriend that he isn't what he seems. Although the girlfriend seems taken aback by this, she regurgitates what she has been told by Pat and puts the blame on Tully. I understand what she is doing. If she stays with Pat, that is the only possible reality she can construct around herself.
Who is Tully, but a person who can be eliminated from the life, thrown away like a forgotten memory?
But Tully existed. Her story existed.

If you are not willing to see the truth in a situation, you are not doing the right thing. Even if you are the victim in a situation, things have to be seen for what they are.
What Pat broke with her or lied to her about, will stay broken even if she denies it in front of everyone down to her reflection in the mirror. Even if she deflects the blame and puts it on the one who is accusing. There is no respite except in acknowledgement of the truth that what she is trying to protect in her denial, is broken already.
