Usually , i have this issue with quotes that i have major objections about their 'wisdom' and i cant seemingly argue that because whatever i say will never be as popular as the quote, no matter how flawed the idea is. I have seen that the barking dogs bite the most. And lightening doesnt have any mind of its own to discriminate against falling on the same place twice. Try, Try again but maybe just give up and try something elseee ???
And if they are not wrong per se , quotes really need disclaimers and conditions because haste makes waste AND 'slow and steady win the race' are both applicable but in DIFFERENT situations and neither can be taken as a general advice for life alone.
But so far in life , there is one saying that has stood the test of time for me.
'if you are the smartest perosn in the room , you are in the wrong room ' serves as a genuine life guide .
It makes me :
-not become an egotistical person , something I will have tendency for if I stay the smartest person in the room for a long time.
-belong to a community of learners. When I have exhausted my ability to learn from some people. I can simply move on to another group where I am perhaps , at the bottom or the middle.
- not resent the people I am not intellectually stimulated by. I don't see it as their fault. If they have different preoccupations , doesn't mean I should stop my pursuit. It also makes me pretend less.
- hopeful. I can live , because there are always those rooms. There's no cap on human knowledge.
