Prof Guide.

I used to freak out (secretly) before mbbs exams. I was always full of dread about the examination hall, the cold, the atmosphere...The hard work I had to prepare myself for. It didn't get better until I actually sat in an exam which was the real test of my nerves ( 3rd year pathology)and decided, I saw for myself that being in control of yourself is the best thing you can do under stress. Being confident is what sets you apart. Like in most other matters.
First things first. Deal with the fear. Adopt that systematic desensitisation except now you do it to yourself. Disocciate exams from fear. Imagine the examination hall vividly. Remember it as perfectly as you can. There is nothing which will hurt you.
Buy your stationary and the required items for exam day beforehand. It will save from a lot of undue stress on the day before. ( when you should just relax)
Steer clear of the anxiety generating stimulus : facebook study groups/pages. If scared of missing out on important material. Give it a scheduled half and hour everyday. At the end of the day when you are done studying.
When you start to study. Make sure you give yourself enough time to relax. Have a clear plan in mind. Priroritize. And fix time for everything.
Pin up a schedule in front of you.
Follow it. You will love yourself for the feeling you feel at the end of the day after having followed it.
Don't read everything as if you are reading it for the first time. Whenever you start a topic, recall what you know about it. Do the diagnostic tests and management first. Then read the rest of epidemiology and pathogenesis if you find it important.
Don't. And I say DONT use bed for studying. It is a trap. It is a lie you tell yourself. With this weather and a comforter you will fall asleep in no time. Sit on the floor. Or chair. It's ok. It's a test. Everybody faces tests. We can't let it get to us. But we should make sure we do our best.
Do the tough topics first. If you want a confidence booster however , do an easy topic. Something is better than nothing.
It's ok to indulge. Have as much coffee and green tea as you like . After prof you will feel withdrawal but that alertness. That attention is worth it.
Give yourself an hour of positivity. Exercise. Walk. Feel good about life. Watch a ted talk.
It's not the end of the world. It never is. Relax. Stay mindful.
We are going to be doctors. We deserve to be tested like this. We have come this far. Lets believe in ourselves .
Best of luck, everyone.
