I am afraid that the dramatization of pain and self-denial, glamorized tastefully in drama and literature, will lull the conscience of this society into sleep for a time longer than I in my hopeful state would estimate.
This is the extract of my observation :
If you are patient with the biting negativity of people, and if you compromise with the tough and demeaning people in your life long enough, one day through your' effort' and 'love' you will make a 'place in their heart' and have your 'happily ever after'. The job of 'proving' yourself is upto you as the victim, facing adversities for crimes like being born with the less favored gender or being married to son of a woman who is absolutely appalled by the tragedy of sharing him with..well, his lawfully wedded wife. The root cause of the discontent which should be dissected and duly portrayed in light of its evil nature, usually doesn't get addressed as the 'patience' and 'compromises' of the sturdy character is cleverly dramatized, concluding on the note that through persistent effort and self-sacrifice (for toxic things, people and attitudes) comes happiness and acceptance.
To my great disappointment, a very few people in this diabolical society have the courage, or insight to project a progressive approach towards difficulties in life.
